California legislators approved a $232 billion spending plan on Friday that would reduce Medicaid services for the undocumented while providing larger tax credits for Hollywood. The measure, which provides about $1 billion less in general fund spending than the previous fiscal year’s budget, rejects or scales back many cuts proposed by Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) and would instead dip further into reserve funds to make up for a $12 billion budget shortfall.

California Democrats are backing an Assembly bill that would allow a higher percentage of ethanol in gasoline sold in the state. The state Assembly on Wednesday is likely to pass the legislation (AB 30) allowing gas stations to sell E15 gasoline, which contains up to 15% ethanol. It would then head to the state Senate, where a similar measure stalled last year.

But they may be hard-pressed to meet those new disclosure requirements by January as regulators indicated they are still months away from issuing regulations, missing a July deadline.
