Despite its importance, little is known about how this nephron segment forms during kidney development. Methods: We assembled a large single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) dataset by integrating multiple datasets of non-mutant developing mouse kidneys to identify developing thin descending limb cells.

It was a gorgeous summer morning, and the stands were packed with fans cheering on the athletes hailing from every corner of the Dominion. There was a pleasantly casual patriotism to the proceedings.

Continuing our trend of abnormally warm temperatures for the state this year, anomalously high temperatures are looking more and more likely for the Upper Peninsula of Michigan for at least the next few weeks. The National Weather Service office in Marquette is outlining high chances (80-90%) of well-above average high temperatures for the region for at least the next six to 10 days. The typical high and low for this region is 20 and 0 degrees Fahrenheit, respectively.

A weather phenomenon that appeared over Lake Michigan is creating quite the buzz, a radar image circulating nationwide that has had meteorologists and weather fans excited to share it. This fairly rare weather pattern - known as mesovorticies - occurred during last Friday’s winter storm conditions which spread across part of Michigan. They looked like a line of little curling whirlwinds stretching up Lake Michigan.
