AbstractBackground: The thin descending limb of the loop of Henle is crucial for urine concentration, as it facilitates passive water reabsorption. Despite its importance, little is known about how this nephron segment forms during kidney development. Methods: We assembled a large single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) dataset by integrating multiple datasets of non-mutant developing mouse kidneys to identify developing thin descending limb cells.

By: Andrew PotterWe took the kids up to the Claude Robillard sports complex in Montreal on Sunday to watch the last day of the Canadian national track and field championships, which doubled as the qualifying trials for our Olympic and Paralympic teams heading to Paris at the end of the month. It was a gorgeous summer morning, and the stands were packed with fans cheering on the athletes hailing from every corner of the Dominion. There was a pleasantly casual patriotism to the proceedings.
