THE Northern Marianas Sports Association and the Northern Marianas Humanities Council each received over $1,500 from former Peace Corps volunteers who attended a reunion on Saipan in April. Jean Olopai, a local resident and former Peace Corps volunteer who organized activities for the reunion, was present at the Surf Rider Hotel on Friday, June 6 to deliver the checks to NMSA and the Humanities Council.

THE upcoming Basic Traditional Seamanship course has a total of 10 available slots, and there is still space for participants to join, according to Aina Chargualaf, program coordinator for Northern Marianas College-Community Development Institute. The course, also known as Lalayak, is coordinated in partnership with 500 Sails. It is an eight-week experience that "introduces participants to the artistry and science of traditional seamanship," according to a media release.

During their presentation, they explained what the Marianas U.S. Dollar or MUSD is and how it will be used on Tinian. King-Nabors said MUSD is created by Tinian Local Law 24-03, which also allows online gambling on Tinian.

AT Marianas High School’s commencement ceremony on Monday, June 2, friends and top graduates Jedric Aniciete and Gwanpil Son addressed their class of 388 graduating seniors. Aniciete is the valedictorian, while Son is the salutatorian. Because they “do everything together” and have been classmates since elementary school, they concluded their high school journey with a joint address, stepping up to the microphone together.
