    The minister has said areas should submit one document outlining proposals for local government reorganisation as it revealed how much each area will get from a £7.6m fund. In a written ministerial statement yesterday local government minister Jim McMahon said each area will receive a flat rate of £135,000 plus 20p per person (full allocations listed below). Now that all areas have been sent feedback on their interim plans the government has published a summary and further guidance.

    A Royal Marine in a unit guarding the nuclear deterrent has been questioned by counterterrorism police over his alleged neo-Nazi links. The unnamed marine is understood to have put up a survey several months ago asking colleagues whether they were concerned that diversity, equality and inclusion policies were in danger of creating an "unrecognisable, weak and compromised version of the corps". The survey was taken down within 24 hours.
