The University of Missouri spent over $31 million in NIL compensation to student-athletes during the past year, according to financial records. Mizzou spent them money in service of bolstering its football and basketball programs, with nearly two-thirds of the money going to football players and about a fourth to men’s basketball. The remainder was split among baseball, women’s basketball and lower-profile programs.

Michigan representative and former college and professional athlete Joe Tate has introduced a bill to protect student-athletes' right to profit off of their name, image and likeness. According to WLNS, House Bill 4643 states that collegiate institutions and athletic organizations cannot prevent student athletes from receiving financial compensation for the use of their NIL.

The University of New Orleans this week announced a youth sports program aimed at giving young people in the city more access to athletics and recreation programs, as well as job opportunities. According to WWL Louisiana, the $1.95 million Recreation for Youth Partnership, is a public-private initiative that's expected to provide year-round programming for more than 6,000 kids in its first year.
