Infrastructure is also key to improving resilience and economic growth. Delays increase costs, which governments cannot afford amid high inflation and spending constraints. Team Reptech from Repton School, Derbyshire is the winner of this year’s ICE CityZen gold award. The winning entry was a proposal to transform the dormant Willington Power Station into a state of the art net zero biogas generator. The team’s commitment to mitigating climate change inspired its suggestion to use food waste as fuel for the generator. The CityZen Award is a UK-wide competition designed to promote civil engineering among young people aged between 16 and 18.

They meet with ICE directors to discuss the year’s plan.
