    The inter-island passenger service was due to launch yesterday, but late on Thursday that was put back a week. In the meantime, local charter firms Water Taxi CI and Bailiwick Boat Charters have stepped into the breach to move some of the disappointed travellers. ‘It’s unfortunate to learn of the delayed start to the Islands Unlimited schedule,’ said Water Taxi CI founder Max Boleat.

    Sark Electricity has said that it has agreed to sell – but to a third party, not Chief Pleas. The boss of the company said he was awaiting confirmation from the island’s government that the deal can go through – though it seems unclear as to whether Chief Pleas would need to get involved or grant any permission if it was not party to the deal. The deal with Island Energy, which is based near Edinburgh, has been outlined by SEL managing director Alan Witney-Price to be in the region of £2.4m.

Guernsey Community Foundation has published its Quality of Life Report 2025 – a year-long research project looking at local life, where it found an island rife with inequality.

    The centre lost funding from the States in 2023 and has had to survive on donations for the past two years. Teresa O’Hara, the Day Centre manager, pictured, wrote to parents this week with the news which she said she ‘deeply regretted’. ‘Two years ago, Education decided that each school would provide dyslexia teaching by their staff. Therefore, they would no longer need our service,’ she said.
