This season of Top Chef is so ridiculous! Having previously given a win to a dish that was third-best, the judges kept a chef who made a dish they could not eat, all because pouring water on dry ice created a cloud and they were like ooh smoke ooh!For a Mission: Impossible-sponsored challenge, the Top Chef: Destination Canada chefs were asked to add a stunt to their dishes. What did that mean? No one knew! But at least they got to do an actual stunt.

So close, yet so far: I truly thought Jonathan and Ana were going to become The Amazing Race 37 history during its leg in northeast France, but no. Because of either the editing or the circumstances, Jonathan was in the background the past few episodes, but in this episode, he was back to acting like—and I think this is the technical term—a shitbag. I was taking notes and then just had to stop, it was so toxic.

Five seasons ago, I wondered if Survivor 43 was so boring because the players froze in the face of unpredictable new-era twists. And now Survivor 48 is so boring that it spent an entire 90-minute episode telling us why it’s so boring. Which was, alas, boring. During Tribal Council, Jeff Probst said Shauhin explained “why this game’s so complicated,” and really was the entire episode.

My fellow Survivor-watching and -loving friends, I have a favor to ask: Will you tell me what you’d like to know about behind the scenes on Survivor Gabon, Survivor Tocantins, and Survivor Samoa? I ask because I’m finishing the second draft of a book, and one thing I’m struggling with is how much detail to include. My inclination as a writer is always to overload with details, because I love details, but as a reader and editor, I know that’s not the best strategy.
