At some point in the future, I look forward to telling my grandchildren that their new holo-GPUs are nothing like the wonderful hardware I experienced as a child. No, our graphics cards were spiky, robust bits of technology—and they came in boxes covered in art featuring robot frogs, or scantily clad cyber elves, or the Terminator if his wife left him and he was having a rough time of things.

Sometimes it seems that PC case design has more in common with the fashion world than anything else. After all, it's easy to look at shiny new rigs posted online by creative types, glance over at your ageing case, and wonder whether you should get with the times and do something different. We've noticed that novel venting is starting to emerge as a trend, and this Asus chassis has me considering an upgrade of my own.

In "news to make your teeth itch", a Gamestop store in Staten Island has reportedly been stapling receipts to boxes containing brand-spanking-new Nintendo Switch 2 consoles. Ordinarily this wouldn't be much of an issue, but thanks to a lack of protection between the outer layer and the LCD screen inside, midnight launch attendees at this particular store have complained that some of their Switch purchases have ended up with holes punctured in the screen.

It's not often a GPU cooler design makes me do a double-take, but here we are. The MSI GeForce RTX 5060 8G Cyclone OC has made my head involuntarily rotate for two reasons this morning—firstly, because it looks wildly different to what you might think of when it comes to graphics card designs, and two, because I saw a prototype version of this cooler at Computex with a screen in the middle of the fan.
