This year’s session isn’t looking any different. Paying legislators requires changing the state constitution, which also requires voter approval. Senate Joint Resolution 1 would ask voters to approve a commission that would set and regulate lawmaker salaries.

The former congresswoman and federal cabinet secretary announced her gubernatorial campaign in February Former U.S. Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland has raised more than $2 million in campaign contributions for her run for governor, according to her campaign. In a Tuesday press release, Haaland’s campaign said she raised the money from more than 30,000 donors from across the state who donated on average $43 per contribution.

Federal prosecutors told jurors that Peña believed that a “rigged” election had robbed him of victory in a state contest, prompting him to respond with violence.

In an announcement video released Thursday, White called himself a fiscal conservative and vowed to crack down on crime and homelessness in Albuquerque. In a news release, White criticized Keller for the number of homicides during the mayor’s two terms.
