    The Western Michigan University hockey team is one victory away from a National Championship. Owen Michaels scored the double overtime winner on Thursday night in St. Louis to send WMU into the Frozen Four Championship game. The Broncos 3-2 victory over Denver was the program's record 33rd win of the season. Michaels scored twice, while Brian Kramer had the other goal for Western. Freshman goaltender Hampton Slukynsky stopped 20 shots to earn his 18th win of the season.

    The Parchment boys basketball and Kalamazoo Central girls basketball teams enjoyed quite the Tuesday night, as both squads came away with wins. Parchment doubled up Galesburg-Augusta, 70-35. As for K-Central, the Maroon Giants defeated Portage Central, 42-35.     Dates:War Service:Second Lieutenant SYDNEY ELPHICK SANDERS of 6th battalion Queen's Own (Royal West Kent Regiment). He enlisted in Camberwell on 2nd September 1914 with (T.F.) 2/21st Battn. Co. of London Regiment. He was killed in action during a German counter attack at Lateau Wood to the South of Cambrai on 30 November 1917, whilst serving with the 6th Battalion, Queens Own (Royal West Kent Regiment).
