A 19-year-old from Battle Creek has been arrested in connection to the fatal shooting of 27-year-old Montine Wiley, according to Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS). Wiley was shot Saturday at Kalamazoo's Green Door Distilling on East North Street while he worked as a security guard at a private event. He had gotten into an altercation with a customer when he was shot, according to public safety officers.

Kalamazoo's Open Roads Bike Program is moving to a new spot this summer. With help from the Kalamazoo Community Foundation and a loan through the foundation's Impact Investment Team, the program is set to take over the former KalBlue site on East Vine Street, according to officials on Thursday. “We are incredibly excited to establish our new home in the heart of the Edison Neighborhood,” Open Roads Executive Director Isaac Green said.

Four people from Kalamazoo and Kent counties will spend years behind bars for drug trafficking in West Michigan. From Monday through Wednesday, the following were sentenced to federal prison through their own individual cases, according to the acting U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Michigan Andrew B. Birge:Rene Arnold Ruiz, 52, of Kent County: sentenced Monday to 16 years in prison for possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, heroin and cocaine. Pleaded guilty on Jan. 13.
