Montreal’s transit agency says it has closed an entrance to the Place-des-Arts métro station indefinitely after uncovering problems with the concrete. A recent visual inspection found that the slab and beams of the Jeanne-Mance St. entrance showed “significant concrete deterioration, likely caused by de-icing salt and water,” the Société de transport de Montréal said in a statement on Thursday afternoon. The agency said the closure will allow it to carry out structural work on the entrance.
