Reading Time: < 1 minuteThe County held its sixth Library High School graduation ceremony Thursday to celebrate the accomplishments of 30 new graduates. Each received their high school diplomas during a cap and gown ceremony at Cuyamaca College in El Cajon. Life circumstances sometimes prevent students from graduating high school with their classmates. Library High School allows students to work around their job or family schedules to study at their own pace to complete their high school education.

Reading Time: 3 minutesThe County’s new state-of-the-art Public Health Lab officially opened its doors after a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the County Operations Center (COC) in Kearny Mesa on Thursday. The two-story facility measures 52,000 square feet, three times larger than the old, cramped and outdated building on Rosecrans.  Once a shopping center and dating back to 1965, it hadn’t been designed to house a lab. The structure was closed due to its aging infrastructure.

Reading Time: < 1 minuteEditor’s Note: Budget hearings are scheduled for 9 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 3. This reflects an update to the previous schedule when the evening hearing was scheduled for June 9. Residents had a chance to learn about the County’s $8.62 recommended budget during an open house Thursday at the County Operations Center. This was the first open house to take place since the budget was publicly released on May 1.
