SALT, the former Michelin star restaurant in Stratford, has closed after eight years. The fine dining restaurant in Church Street was run by Paul Foster who launched Salt following a £100,000 Kickstarter campaign. The restaurant was created - to a high standard - in a grade II-listed building and soon became a favourite destination for locals and visitors. In 2018, Paul and the team gained a Michelin star which was held until last year.

Reform win Warwickshire County Council election as Conservatives lose their leader

REFORM UK were the biggest winners following the Warwickshire County Council elections, gaining 23 seats from a standing start. However, the party failed to hit the magic number 29 - the number of seats needed to have a majority at Shire Hall. The election also saw good results for the Liberal Democrats (14 seats) and Greens (seven). The Conservatives had a day to forget as they went into the election with 41 councillors and came out the other side with just nine.
Firm fined £300,000 after man crushed to death on Ebrington building site

A construction company was fined £300,000 this week after a kitchen fitter was crushed to death by concrete blocks at a housing development at Ebrington. Martin Dunford, 33, had been working on a development of 16 houses being built by Piper Homes Construction Limited at Ebrington Rise on 23rd January 2020 when the accident happened. He had walked around a lorry loader to talk to the driver about how long he would be on site, as he needed access to one of the properties being built.
Birmingham Road work could result in traffic speeds increasing by around 5mph

MOTORISTS could see traffic speeds increase on Birmingham Road, Stratford, by up to 5mph when changes are made to the Western Road junction. Warwickshire County Council plans to remove the traffic lights at Western Road and ban right turns from Western Road onto Birmingham Road. Drivers will instead have to travel north on Birmingham Road, do a u-turn at the roundabout and join the traffic heading back towards the Arden Street junction.
Two arrested during police and immigration operation in Stratford

TWO men were arrested when police and immigration officers raided eight businesses in Stratford. The Stratford Safer Neighbourhood Team along with a Home Office Immigration Enforcement Team carried out the operation in the Greenhill Street area. A spokesperson for Warwickshire Police said: “Together, we attended eight commercial properties in the town.
Police concern for Shipston man who failed to return after weekend in Plymouth

WARWICKSHIRE Police have said they are concerned for the wellbeing of a Shipston man after he failed to return home after a weekend away. The man, who is referred to as Peter, was meant to return home to the Shipston/Honnington area on 14th April after a trip to Plymouth. A spokesperson said: “He has not returned home and we are growing more and more concerned for his welfare. “Peter may be travelling in the VW camper.
