SET in Birmingham, but very much created in Stratford is a new novel by local author Abigail Johnson. The Secret Collector, which is published by Pan Macmillan, follows the lives of Alfred, an elderly collector and Kian, a young care leaver who can’t seem to stay out of trouble. Abigail, who also works for Stratford Town Trust, said the pair end up on a restorative justice programme together and what unfolds is a journey of two characters who form the unlikeliest of friendships.

THE M40 in south Warwickshire was expected to be closed for hours today (Friday) following a crash involving a van and a lorry. The incident happened on the northbound section between J13 (Barford) and J14 (Bishop's Tachbrook) with reported delays for motorists of around two hours. Emergency services, including Warwickshire Police, as well as National Highways traffic officers were on the scene, with motorists advised to avoid the area.

DRIVERS have been reminded that the A46 around Leamington and Kenilworth will be closed for 19 days from tonight (Friday). The closure, which is to allow for HS2 work, will be in both directions between Stivichall Interchange/A45 (Festival Island) to the Thickthorn Island (A452 for Leamington and Kenilworth) from 8pm. The road will reopen at 6am on 1st May. National Highways warned drivers to expect lengthy delays in the area.

TWO men are suspected to have carried out an arson attack on a property in Temple Herdewyke. Warwickshire Police said that at 9.30pm on Sunday, 30th March, it was reported that two men caused fire damage to a property on Holywell Drive - a fairly new housing estate in the village. The police said: “No-one was injured and this is currently being treated as an isolated incident. “We're appealing for any witnesses to please come forward.

EMERGENCY services are currently at the Tesco petrol station on Birmingham Road, Stratford, after concern was raised about a man’s welfare. Warwickshire Police said road closures are in place on Birmingham Road between Justins Avenue and Park Road. As well as police officers, firefighters and ambulance staff were in attendance.

I knew having children would eventually pay off. Father’s Day present to see @RealTimBooth and @wearejames in July. It will be first time for my 11-year-old daughter. Very excited for her (and me, of course).
