NEW artworks are to be installed by the riverside in Stratford as part of a temporary art trail being created by the RSC. The trail would consist of seven works inspired by The Two Gentlemen of Verona by Oxford-based artist, Lisa Curtis. Four of the installations would be located in the riverside gardens close to the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, while the other three would be either inside the theatre building or in The Other Place.

OLYMPIC silver medallist Esme Booth lent her rowing skills to a Stratford primary school as they neared their goal as part of a fundraising challenge. Staff and students at St Gregory’s Primary School had been helping to row some of the 1,200-mile target – the equivalent of the distance between Warwickshire and the Vatican.

KINETON Music Festival is celebrating its 10th event on Saturday (21st June) with great bands as well as support for good causes. Staged at Kineton Sports and Social Club, the main stage will be headlined by the tribute band Queen – Greatest Hits with the The Brightside - Killers also appearing. There will of course be a variety of acts throughout the day, both on the main stage and in the acoustic tent, which will showcase local musicians.

A RANGE Rover driver failed to stop at tyhe scene after colliding with a 12-year-old cyclist close to a Stratford school. The incident, reported earlier this week by the Herald, happened at about 3.30pm on Wednesday (11th June) on Alcester Road, just a few meters from the entrance to Stratford-upon-Avon School. The boy was taken to hospital with chest and arm injuries. The school has since said that he is making a good recovery.

Alcester’s only bank - Lloyds on Stratford Road - is set to close later this month while Shipston’s only bank, also a Lloyds, will shut its doors in November. Stratford still has a few banks left - for now - but that number is dwindling.

I knew having children would eventually pay off. Father’s Day present to see @RealTimBooth and @wearejames in July. It will be first time for my 11-year-old daughter. Very excited for her (and me, of course).
