STAFF at Pizza Express in Stratford have been told the restaurant will be closing. Workers at the restaurant chain on Ely Street have reportedly been told the shop will close its doors in August. The Herald has been informed that staff have now received letters telling them about the closure. In summer 2020, the Herald reported that the Stratford branch was not one of 73 restaurants the chain had chosen to close.

A STRATFORD bakery has risen above the competition to create an award-winning sourdough bread. MOR Bakery in Bell Court took the Seeded Sourdough title at the British Baker Awards 2025. The bakery, owned by David Pearson, opened in March 2020. “It’s a nice recognition for a loaf that’s been on the shelf since we opened,” David told the Herald. STRATFORD race ace Freddie Slater had a dream start to his Formula 3 career, bagging a podium finish in the weekend’s sprint race in Bahrain. The 16-year-old steered the AIX Racing car to second behind Nikola Tsolov having led the race in the early stages. Slater failed to finish Sunday’s feature race but was delighted with his weekend.
