This week, we were treated to an advance screening of the Philippou brothers' sophomore feature, Bring Her Back, followed by a live stream Q&A with the directors. A word of advice: see this opening weekend before anyone can spoil it for you. The Talk To Me filmmakers' follow-up is an uncomfortably accurate portrayal of grief and love. The directing duo does not shy away from agonizingly heavy material.

Rosario director Felipe Vargas wanted to accurately portray the Palo Mayombe on screen. But he did draw the line at using actual human remains in the movie (good call!). Vargas' feature directorial debut follows Wall Street stockbroker, Rosario Fuentes (Emeraude Toubia), as she returns to her grandmother's apartment following a sudden death.

A quiet club sits nestled in a strip mall on an unassuming weekday afternoon. That is, until I open the doors and step from the sunny Southern California day into the darkness where a mad monster party awaits. As my eyes adjust, zombies roam around, chat amongst one another, and casually sip on sodas. A vampire walks by, and I also see a werewolf in the distance for good measure.
