How much quiet time do we need? Even a few minutes can make a difference, whether at morning coffee or just before bedtime. I’ve read that our quiet time should be at least 10 minutes to a half hour. Silence is powerful. It helps us to refocus, think creatively, lower the blood pressure, reduce stress, encourage self-reflection and awareness. Silence allows the mind to quiet down and unclutter. Some people want to be constantly on the go. Many don’t understand the value of quiet time.

I’m being daring and going to teach an art class. It took me a long time to call myself an artist and now I’m going to try my stuff with non-artists. I’m getting a bit anxious about it all but I always try new things. I keep telling myself to teach from the heart. Simple and clear but inspirational. We’ll see how that all works out. These are senior citizen non-artists who know me and what I do. I’ve got to make it fun. Interesting how people say they can’t draw or paint. I remember that time in my life.

April showers are on their way. Even the Japanese cherry trees are at their peak in Washington D.C . What a grand scene that is around the Tidal Basin, and the park and monument grounds. Where has March gone? It feels like it was a whiz of a month. It’s probably we’re anxiously looking forward to great weather and activities. I have read that as we’re doing a lot of things, time flies by. But that sure puts a monkey wrench in life. At any age, as we do more, experience more, learn more, the calendar seems on fire. It’s like a month starts and ends in a flash. We’re staring down April next week. Being retired, you’d think that time would creep by.

The first day of spring is tomorrow. Northerners celebrate with a bit of caution because they know that snow doesn’t go by the calendar. Southerners are already into spring but they too are cautious of tornadoes or bad storms. But there is anticipation as the weather gets us outdoors and into blooming nature. We feel good about the new season. There’s a happiness within our hearts and an exploring nature about us. There’s a different pace in our steps and a smile on our face.
