AABOT sa 116,000 estudyante ang nag-aplay para sa PUPCET o Polytechnic University of the Philippines College Entrance Test subalit nasa 45,000 lamang ang makakakuha ng pagsusulit. Kahapon, Enero 12, ay maagang pumila sa PUP Oval ang mga nais mag-aral sa nasabing state university. Nasa 20,000 aspirants ang unang batch na makakakuha ng admission test. Ang state university na may 20 campus kasama ang main branch sa Sta. Mesa, Manila ay itinayo noon pang 1904.

PEDRO V. Panaligan Memorial National High School in Calapan, Oriental Mindoro emerged as the first-prize winner in the National Parol-Making Competition, “Isang Bituin, Isang Mithiin,” organized by Malacañang. Panabo City National High School from Davao Region secured second place, while Roxas City School for Philippine Craftsmen in Western Visayas took third prize.

THE DEPARTMENT of Social Welfare and Development assured the public that it would continue its relentless campaign against all forms of violence toward children, even beyond the National Children’s Month celebration. DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian highlighted the importance of collaboration among partners and stakeholders to advocate for stronger measures to protect children from abuse. The Council for the Welfare of Children, an attached agency of the DSWD, led the NCM activities.
