GULFPORT, Fla. — Seniors in Pinellas County could soon be seeing cuts to some of the meals they rely on due to delays in federal funding. The Neighborly Senior Care Network operates a number of programs to assist seniors with meals and transpiration, including their dining program that provides eligible seniors with up to 5 free lunches per week.

LAND O’ LAKES, FLA. — Florida State University shooting survivor Madison Askins is staying positive and looking to the future as the continues to recover from a gunshot wound. Askins was one of five people who survived the on-campus shooting in April. The daughter of two marines, she says her parents taught that if she ever got shot to stay in the same place and don’t move. She believes their guidance is part of why she’s still here today.

ST. PETE BEACH, Fla. — After ending last sea turtle nesting season with destructive back-to-back hurricanes in Pinellas County, volunteers with the Sea Turtle Trackers are excited and keeping positive going into a new season. The group Sea Turtle Trackers covers the southern end of the county including St. Pete Beach, Pass-a-grille, Shell Key and Outback Key. The team with Clearwater Marine Aquarium (CMA) covers a larger section from Treasure Island through Clearwater.

PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. – One person was killed Sunday evening after a hit-and-run boat crash involving the Clearwater Ferry, public safety officials said Sunday night. Six people were seriously injured, with two people being flown by medical helicopters to area hospitals.
