Bay News 9

Bay News 9 is a cable news channel based in St. Petersburg, Florida, owned by Charter Communications. It primarily serves the Tampa Bay region, which includes counties like Hillsborough, Pinellas, Manatee, Polk, Pasco, Hernando, and Citrus. This channel is exclusively available to Charter Communications subscribers and offers news coverage around the clock, every day of the week, although it occasionally features special programs such as the weekly political show, Political Connections. The channel was established by Elliott Wiser, who became the General Manager after being hired by Time Warner Cable in May 1997. At that time, Time Warner was also launching a similar news service in Orlando called Central Florida News 13. Wiser later went on to develop Bay News 9 en Espanol, Tampa Bay on Demand, and Bright House Sports Network, which is now known as Spectrum Sports.
