The Ismaili Muslim Community of BC's annual Ramadan food drive collected over 12,000 pounds of non-perishable food for local Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island food banks. Feezah Jaffer from the Ismaili CIVIC said the Ismaili community has hosted a food drive during the Holy month of Ramadan for over 18 years.

Fire crews in Delta responded to a boat fire near Derwent Way & Belgrave Way in the Annacis Channel Fire crews in Delta responded to a boat fire in the Annacis Channel Friday (April 4). A Black Press freelancer at the scene said that fire crews had to access the boat through the Annacis Lock-Up Storage Facility (555 Derwent Wy) on Annacis Island. The Independent Investigation Office (IIO) is investigating an arrest in Surrey where one man was injured. The RCMP’s Surrey Provincial Operations Support Unit arrested a man at home on Jan. 26, 2025. "The man reports that he was injured while being taken into custody," reads a release from IIO Friday (April 4). "The IIO was notified on February 7, 2025 when the man contacted the office.

A large police presence can be seen at a property on the Surrey/Langley border on Friday (April 4). Sgt. Tige Pollock, media relations officer for Surrey Police Service told the Now-Leader that police are conducting a search warrant "regarding an ongoing investigation" at the property in the 19400-block of Colebrook Road and that there is no risk to the public. Pollock would not provide any more information at the time.
