Surrey Women's Centre recently released a survivor-created zine, a collection of art, poems and stories, all created by survivors of sexual assault for survivors. The centre's director of sexual assault services, Samantha Grey, said survivors often get a lot of paperwork when they go to the police and/ or the hospital. "It's very focused on next steps, it's very focused on what medical aftercare looks like, what to do after a police statement, what trauma looks like," Grey said.

Emergency crews responded to a multi-vehicle collision in Surrey Tuesday afternoon (May 13). Surrey Fire Service and BC Emergency Health Services responded to the call around 2 p.m. near 96 Ave and 156 Street in Fleetwood. A black truck, with its airbags deployed, could be seen crashed into a fence along 156 Street. A grey minivan with its front end damaged also appeared to be involved in the crash. The Surrey Now-Leader has reached out Surrey Police and BCEHS for more information.

So, this workshop aims to give women insight into what a potential career in policing could be and to "demystify it" a bit.
