    The Independent Investigation Office (IIO) is investigating an arrest in South Surrey where one man was injured. Members of the Surrey RCMP Provincial Operations Support Unit responded to a disturbance call on May 9 around 1:30 p.m. at a residential building near 34 Avenue and 152 Street. Police located a man who allegedly had a weapon and attempted to detain him under the Mental Health Act, reads a release from IIO.

    The Zambian community in B.C. has created an online fundraiser to help a young Zambian man make his final journey home. Enoch Sumbwa Mulembe had only arrived in Surrey a few months before and was attending Pacific Life Community College, where he was studying business leadership. On May 6, police in Surrey found Enoch's body in his home. Surrey Police told the Now-Leader his death was not considered suspicious. His death at only 23 years old came as a shock to the family.

    Police in Surrey are asking for the public's help in locating a missing teenage girl. Lacey Braun, 16, was last seen on May 6 leaving her home at around 4 a.m. in the 13100 block of 107 Avenue in Whalley.
