Mind Matters 5K to raise mental health awareness

With colorful posters and interactive activities, the Palo Alto community will have the chance to raise mental health awareness through a community run at the Mind Matters 5K fundraiser taking place at Palo Alto High School Saturday on the Quad. Participants will either walk or run the Viking Loop, which stretches from the Quad to the Earl Hansen Viking Stadium. There will also be booths set up by various local mental health organizations, including AllCove and Paly’s Wellness Center.

The play is based on a modern adaptation of the Greek comedy by Aristophanes, centering on two miscreants, Pithetaerus and Eulpides. Power returns just in time for first day of school

Only hours before teachers kicked off the new school year, electrical power returned to the Palo Alto High School campus at around 5 p.m. today. A five-day outage had caused darkened classrooms, non-functional air conditioning and spotty Wi-Fi since Friday. Assistant Principal Jerry Berkson said the power went out when construction workers cut through an electrical line while attempting to connect the fire alarm systems between Paly’s buildings.
