Wellspring’s 11th annual Firefighter Stairclimb Challenge takes place at Brookfield Place in Calgary on Sunday. The climb is held inside Calgary’s tallest tower, with more than 80 fire departments expected to participate, including crews from Airdrie, Calgary, Crossfield, Carstairs, Cochrane, Beiseker, Didsbury and Rocky View County.
Participants will ascend 57 storeys—1,370 steps—all in the name of cancer support.

A fuel tanker fire that shut down westbound Highway 1 at Stoney Trail NW on Thursday has been cleared, according to 511 Alberta.
At 10:44 p.m., 511 Alberta reported the westbound collision near the Stoney Trail NW junction had been cleared.
Earlier in the day, Calgary police said all four westbound lanes of Highway 1 from Stoney Trail NW were closed due to a fuel tanker fire. Traffic was being diverted from Highway 1 onto northbound and southbound Stoney Trail.

A fuel tanker fire has closed all four westbound lanes of Highway 1 at Stoney Trail, Calgary police say.
Traffic on westbound Highway 1 is being diverted onto northbound and southbound Stoney Trail.
Traffic from both directions on Stoney Trail is being diverted and cannot access westbound Highway 1.
Eastbound lanes remain open.
Police are asking drivers to avoid the area and use alternate routes.

RCMP detachments in Airdrie and Olds issued summer road safety reminders Tuesday, urging Albertans to stay alert as warm weather brings more cyclists — and as school buses continue to operate through the final stretch of the academic year.
Airdrie RCMP issued a news release urging drivers and cyclists to share the road, reminding riders under 18 that helmets must meet ANSI, Snell or CSA standards.
Cyclists must use an audible warning device, such as a bell, when passing pedestrians.

Rocky View County officials are warning landowners to be on the lookout for a deceptively attractive but highly invasive plant threatening pastures and hay fields in the region’s northwest.
Field scabious, also known as pincushion flower (Knautia arvensis), is listed as a noxious weed under Alberta’s Weed Control Act. Despite its purple blooms, officials say the plant’s deep tap root and prolific seed output make it a serious risk to native vegetation and agricultural land.

"Trailer Trash", a new comedy docuseries from Prime Video, follows two unapologetically Canadian brothers from Alberta and owners of Young Farts RV Parts, Jagger and Dawson, who have "gone viral with millions of views of their DIY videos on TikTok showcasing their favourite pursuits: drinking beers, smoking darts, and turning old RVs into cash."
The series was one of several announced May 29 during Prime Video’s inaugural Amazon Upfronts in Canada.
