SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Thursday, the City of Savannah held a full-scale emergency exercise. The drill was in partnership with Kraton Corporation, as crews with the Savannah Fire Department, the Savannah Police Department and Chatham Emergency Services responded to a fake call for a chemical spill coming out of a rail car. “There’s a malfunction with the car, so it’s not just simply turning the valve off, the valve won’t turn off,” said Dave the city’s Emergency Management Officer.

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - The fountain in Forsyth Park will soon be removed for a full restoration. Work is expected to begin in early June. Locals already express how much they’re going to miss it. SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Tuesday, Savannah Mayor Van Johnson said he’s thinking about bringing a curfew to some areas of the city following gun violence over the weekend. “If people are saying, ‘you need to do something,’ yeah. Well maybe we need to shut down a little earlier and that way there’s no reason to be downtown while this is going on,” said Mayor Johnson. He said this is an early idea that he still needs to discuss with city staff, but because of the recent violence, it’s on his mind.

POOLER, Ga. (WTOC) - The National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force is commemorating Memorial Day for days with its annual “Flags for the Fallen” tribute. Monday, all those events culminated with the Wreath Laying Ceremony. Many in the community attended the ceremony to pay their respects for those who made the ultimate sacrifice and died for our country. As you walk through the museum, you’ll see 26,000 flags in the ground.
