(Atlanta News First) - Five candidates have entered the Georgia governor’s race so far — one Republican, Attorney General Chris Carr, and four Democrats, most of whom are current or former elected officials. Olu Brown, a retired Methodist pastor, is the only candidate with no political background. Brown said voters are looking for leaders outside the traditional political mold. “I believe voters aren’t looking for these career politicians anymore,” he said.

Matthew Williams says he’s out more than $10,000 after hiring a contractor who didn’t complete the work needed on his property, and having to pay additional contractors for corrective work. Unfortunately, Williams – isn’t alone. Williams was renovating a home in Savannah to be able to rent it out.

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Bryan Stevenson founded The Legacy Museum in Montgomery, Alabama. The core mission was to end mass incarceration. His research uncovered a disproportionate number of poor people, Black and Brown people getting much harsher sentenced than Whites who had committed similar offenses. He also worked to keep a record of the documented lynching’s in America. A group of Statesboro residents including Adrianne McCollar and Dr. Patrick Novotny have become partners in the mission.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson announced a $7.8 billion settlement against Purdue Pharma and the Sackler family for their role in the nation’s opioid crisis. The settlement permanently removes the Sackler family from leading Purdue Pharma and the family is now permanently prohibited from selling opioids in the United States.
