When Sophie Bucknall fell pregnant with her first child in Port Pirie, she was aware of lead emissions related to the town's lead smelter, but didn't understand how serious the impacts could be. Ms Bucknall moved to the regional South Australian town from the United Kingdom in 2018 to be closer to her friend and never left. She said she knew there was a lead smelter, but hadn't "really looked into it" the risk it posed.

An Adelaide woman was unhappy with how Uber handled her complaint against a driver who was convicted of behaving indecently towards her. The 27-year-old recorded the man on Snapchat and reported him to Uber and SA Police. Uber introduced a privacy-audio feature in April 2024 to help boost safety for its users. As soon as Tayla Pimlott's Uber pulled up to the kerb, something felt off. It was an ordinary weekday afternoon in the Adelaide CBD and the 27-year-old had just finished work.

Steel production has resumed at the Whyalla Steelworks. Workers are being welcomed back on to their 12-hour shifts after a shutdown in March resulted in shift reductions. A new thermal lancing system is being developed to prevent further shutdowns. Steelmaking has resumed at the Whyalla Steelworks after GFG Alliance was able to restart the blast furnace. The furnace became unusable when it cooled excessively during a planned routine maintenance shut down in March.
