    The Whyalla City Council has unanimously agreed to extend its existing dry zone to the whole city to control what it says is alcohol-fuelled violence. It follows a public consultation period with the council receiving 2,500 contributions. An application for a city-wide dry zone will be submitted to the Attorney-General for consideration.     An update on the administration of the Whyalla Steelworks in South Australia today has informed workers and creditors that $100 million has been spent by administrator KordaMentha so far. The South Australian government forced the steelworks into administration in February after the business, owned by GFG Alliance, failed to pay tens of millions of dollars in royalty payments to the government and millions in unpaid bills to creditors.

    The state government has moved to clarify the ownership of the Whyalla port amid ongoing legal action to wrest control of the facility from former steelworks owner GFG Alliance. Premier Peter Malinauskas today notified parliament that the government would introduce amendments to the Whyalla Steelworks Act 1958, around three months after placing the steelworks into administration. Mr Malinauskas said maintaining access to the port of Whyalla was "essential for the Whyalla steelworks' operations".
