The men entered Leightons Opticians in The Orchards Shopping Centre, Haywards Heath on Tuesday, May 13, at around 5pm. The first suspect wore a light blue baseball cap with an ‘A’ on it, a white vest, tan coloured jeans, and carried a rucksack. The second suspect wore a black baseball cap, a blue tracksuit with pink Nike logos, Nike trainers and carried a rucksack. He was also described as having a short beard and moustache.

The papers belonged to the late Ian Rodger, from Glasgow, whose son, Sandy, lives in Rye. Ian served with 2 Squadron of the 6th Armoured Division Signal Regiment, a unit of the British Army, and fought in Italy and Tunisia during the war.
