The Florida Hurricane Catastrophe Fund will not have to pay $30 million in Hurricane Irma claims after an investigation by the Florida Attorney General. Universal Property & Casualty Insurance Company, the target of the investigation, maintains they followed accepted practices and that the allegations of fraudulent claims were never proven. As part of a settlement, Universal will pay $6.5 million, but the agreement does not label any part of the payment as a fine.
