Many Florida homeowners likely won't see increases in windstorm insurance rates as high as in past years. Reinsurance costs, a major driver of premiums, are decreasing as the market views Florida as less risky. Lawsuits against insurers have dropped significantly since 2022-2023 tort reforms. While South Florida hasn't seen major premium drops, other areas are experiencing decreases of up to 50%.
