It’s a new year and a fresh start for United Way of Steele County! We’re officially moved into our new office at 245 18th Street SE, Owatonna, MN 55060. Thank you to everyone who attended our open house. A special thank you to the Owatonna Area Chamber of Commerce and Tourism and their very own Mary Jo, who, in case you didn’t know she had this talent, worked with Cedar Floral to create a beautiful bouquet for the occasion that perfectly aligned with our United Way brand colors.

Yet, because of the complexity of collecting and using progress data, too often this evidence-based practice is experienced by educators as little more than a mountain of paperwork. Why is this the case?

What inspires you to get up each day and go out into the world? For me it’s the hope that by doing so I am making a difference by helping people and standing up for what is right. Sometimes this means making sacrifices, but always it means leaving whatever you’ve touched, better than you found it. Throughout the past several months, our Community Summit Action teams have been working to do just that.
