Judging by the palpable warmth and enthusiastic nature Jamal Stroud exudes, one would never know of the adversity he faced as a child. Born in New York City to parents who were both heavy drug users, Jamal was essentially left in the hospital as an infant when his mother left to battle her addiction. Without a parent to name him, the nurse chose the name Jamal after the actor Malcom-Jamal Warner from The Cosby Show, which was very popular then.

Comparing living and working conditions: Germany out-performs the United States This paper compares living and working conditions in the US and Germany for the year 2022 with a focus on economic, social and environmental standards. Emphasis is also placed on income and wealth inequality. Twelve dimensions of comparison are used, split into 15 themes, examined with 80 indicators. Germany comes out ahead on 10 of the themes.
