This kitchen gives new meaning to “hearth of the home.”Situated on an island in Georgian Bay, Ontario, the space is centered on a generously sized stone island. “The family has a tradition of standing and sharing food around the kitchen island on weekends,” says Adam Robinson of Montreal-based Bureau Tempo, who collaborated with Thom Fougere Studio on the interiors of the new build.

Spotted by Julie and promptly admired by all of us: the Oprheu collection of eight wool rugs by Lisbon-based designers Garcé Dimofski for Beni Rugs. Rich in texture and color, the collection is inspired by the work of Portuguese poet and writer Fernando Pessoa, “a poet whose greatest desire was to feel everything in every way,” and named for the short-lived literary magazine he founded in 1915.
