When Eli Brown opened the first Tau natural food store on St. Denis St. in 1978, little did he know that his year-old grandson, Robbie, would maintain his vision of promoting healthy eating by overseeing the store’s six locations across Greater Montreal. A native of Chomedey, Laval, Robbie attended Laval Catholic High School, Vanier College, and Concordia University, graduating in 2000 with a degree in political science.

Within a few short years, he started a landscaping business that grew into a family construction company and by 1979, a real estate development company with his brother Giovanni. Born into the business, Francesco’s sons, Sam and Joe, created Devmont, which last year split into two entities — Scalia Properties Inc., and DevWah.
