BELVIDERE, Ill. (WIFR) - Belvidere North Blue Thunder recorded its seventh shutout in the last ten games with a win over conference rival Harlem Monday. The Huskies came into the game on a four-game win streak. They held North scoreless until the bottom of the fourth inning. The Blue Thunder found a spark on offense and scored 11 runs. ROCKTON, Ill. (WIFR) - Trenton Harshbarger officially committed to play football at North Park Monday. The senior defensive end plans to major in education or athletic training at the Division III school in Chicago. He helped the Indians make the playoffs in each of his seasons on varsity and be one of the dominant teams in the NIC-10. He said his favorite high school football memory is summer camp. “Summer camp was always a blast just here with the boys, going at it all summer,” said Harshbarger.

ROCKTON, Ill. (WIFR) - Hononegah beat Freeport 11-3 Monday to make it a two-way tie for first in the NIC-10 between the Indians and Pretzels. Freeport set the tone for the game as they scored three runs in the top of the first inning. Hononegah responded in the bottom of the third with four runs. Angelo Cassata recorded a three-RBI double to tie the game at three. Hononegah took a 4-3 lead into the fourth. The Indians scored five times in the fourth and twice in the fifth. BELOIT, Wis. (WIFR) - The three-game win streak for the Beloit Sky Carp was snapped on Mother’s Day, losing 6-5 in the series finale to Cedar Rapids. The Kernels scored four runs in the top of the 1st inning. The first came on a sacrifice fly, the others came via a three-run home run from Khadim Diaw. Beloit trailed 4-0. In the bottom of the inning, Gage Miller hit a sacrifice fly which turned into a double play to make it 4-1.

BELOIT, Wis. (WIFR) - Dream big and you can achieve what you want. This was one message 2010 Beloit College graduate Joe Davis shared during his commencement speech to the 2025 class at his alma mater Sunday. Davis aspired to be a sports broadcaster when he arrived on campus almost 20 years ago. Despite one faculty member who told him it’s unrealistic coming from Beloit College, Davis’ dream came true.
