WIFR, which operates on virtual channel 23, is the CBS affiliate located in Rockford, Illinois, and is licensed to the nearby town of Freeport. The station transmits its digital signal on UHF channel 41 from its studios situated on North Meridian Road in Rockford. Although it previously used analog channel 23 for broadcasting, this channel is still maintained as its virtual digital channel through PSIP. WIFR is currently owned by Gray Television and holds the distinction of being the only station in the Rockford area that has kept the same network affiliation since it began broadcasting.
