WIFR, which operates on virtual channel 23, is the CBS affiliate located in Rockford, Illinois, and is licensed to the nearby town of Freeport. The station transmits its digital signal on UHF channel 41 from its studios situated on North Meridian Road in Rockford. Although it previously used analog channel 23 for broadcasting, this channel is still maintained as its virtual digital channel through PSIP. WIFR is currently owned by Gray Television and holds the distinction of being the only station in the Rockford area that has kept the same network affiliation since it began broadcasting.

KEITHVILLE, La. (KSLA/Gray News) – The mother of a 2-year-old girl who was killed in a murder-suicide that left three others dead is at a loss for why it happened. Kara Hanning, the mom of 2-year-old Adalynn Mae Sadler, said she wouldn’t wish this tragedy on anybody. On May 5, the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office was called out to a home in Keithville, Louisiana, to do a welfare check. When deputies got there, they said Adalynn’s grandfather, 60-year-old Leroy Sadler, refused to communicate with them.

Graduation ceremonies took place on Saturday and among those who turned their tassels was a father and his daughter, who are now members of the class of 2025. Liv Clements and Reggie Johnson got to celebrate their accomplishment together. “It’s going to be a great story to tell,” Johnson said. Johnson worked at the university years ago in various departments to help support his family.

ROCKTON, Ill. (WIFR) - Trenton Harshbarger officially committed to play football at North Park Monday. The senior defensive end plans to major in education or athletic training at the Division III school in Chicago. He helped the Indians make the playoffs in each of his seasons on varsity and be one of the dominant teams in the NIC-10. He said his favorite high school football memory is summer camp. “Summer camp was always a blast just here with the boys, going at it all summer,” said Harshbarger.

ROCKTON, Ill. (WIFR) - Hononegah beat Freeport 11-3 Monday to make it a two-way tie for first in the NIC-10 between the Indians and Pretzels. Freeport set the tone for the game as they scored three runs in the top of the first inning. Hononegah responded in the bottom of the third with four runs. Angelo Cassata recorded a three-RBI double to tie the game at three. Hononegah took a 4-3 lead into the fourth. The Indians scored five times in the fourth and twice in the fifth.
