    COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KOAA) — The Academy District 20 School Board in Colorado Springs voted four to one Thursday in favor of joining an ongoing lawsuit against the Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA). The suit was originally filed by School District 49 in May after that district's board passed a policy banning athletes from participating in teams that differ from the sex they were assigned at birth.

    COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KOAA) — A man was cited for pouring gasoline on a crosswalk and starting a fire on Tuesday, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD). It happened at the intersection of East Platte Avenue and North Murray Boulevard. CSPD says the man was given a ticket for illegal burning and was booked on a mental health hold. No one was injured during the incident, according to police.

    PUEBLO, Colo. (KOAA) — A new Whataburger restaurant just opened in the City of Pueblo! There's a lot of locals who are anxious to give it a try because it's the city's first. People wrapped around the building Friday morning for the 11 a.m. opening. The location is located near the intersection of South Prairie Avenue and Pueblo Boulevard. Daimon Byrd says he was the first in line. He tells News5 he claimed his spot at 7 p.m. on Thursday.

    MONUMENT, Colo. (KOAA) — Lewis-Palmer School District 38 will soon have a new superintendent. On Monday, the district's Board of Education selected Former Assistant Superintendent Amber Whetstine for the role in a unanimous vote. The process for selecting the new superintendent included input from staff, parents and the community. A selection advisory committee was formed to interview the finalists. Whetstine's contract will begin on July 1.
