    For the second time today, the Tar Heels have dipped into the transfer portal, this time for what might be their punter this year. According to multiple sources, the Tar Heels have landed Eastern Illinois transfer punter Jake Horvath. He will have two years of eligibility remaining. Horvath started every game for Eastern Illinois each of the last two seasons. In 2023, as a freshman, he averaged 38.1 yards per punt on 55 punts with four of his kicks going 50 or more yards.

    The Tar Heels portal entries just continue to pile in here on Wednesday night and one position that has been hit hard today has been placekicker. The day started with Lucas Osada declaring his intentions this afternoon to enter and has since been followed by two more scholarship guys entering their names as well. The most significant of those two is junior Liam Boyd, who is back in the portal after transferring from Clemson a couple of years ago.

According to multiple reports, the Tar Heels have lost sophomore defensive tackle Joel Starlings to the transfer portal following the official opening of the portal earlier today. He will have three years of eligibility remaining at the school that he eventually lands at.

It started with multiple reports that wide receiver Gavin Blackwell, who was reportedly entering the transfer portal back in December but never did, is officially entering his name into the transfer portal. He will have one year of eligibility remaining wherever he eventually lands.

    For the second time in the last 24 hours, the Tar Heels have received news of a significant entry into the transfer portal. As first reported by Hayes Fawcett of On3 Sports, sophomore quarterback Ryan Browne, who transferred to the Tar Heels back in December, is re-entering his name into the transfer portal after competing for the starting quarterback job in spring camp for the team. Browne will have three years of eligibility remaining wherever he ends up landing.
