The Tar Heels are off to a hot start on the 2026 recruiting trail, but one area that remains a position of need is the quarterback spot. Earlier this week, though, the team did land in the top five for one of their top targets at the position. On Thursday night, Hayes Fawcett of On3 Sports released the final five schools for 2026 4✮ QB Landon Duckworth, one of the top uncommitted quarterbacks in the class.

This offseason has been a wild one for the Tar Heels and things appeared like they may have been reaching a boiling point soon if this morning’s reports are correct. Pablo Torre, host of the ‘Pablo Torre Finds Out’ podcast, said early on Friday morning that sources have told him that Jordon Hudson, the girlfriend of current Tar Heel football head coach Bill Belichick, had been banned for the team’s football facilities.

The Carolina Panthers made a handful of roster moves on Thursday, including the cutting of a major defensive piece from the 2024 team. After just one season in Carolina, veteran Jadeveon Clowney was cut as a cap casualty earlier today in order to free up $7.78 million of cap that creates some flexibility for the team to use on rookie contracts as well as other positions that are still in need of insurance, like safety or linebacker.

It’s no secret that the Tar Heels have been searching for help in the portal at the linebacker spot and on Thursday morning, the team was finally able to land someone. As first reported by Hayes Fawcett of On3 Sports, the Tar Heels have landed a commitment from Oklahoma State linebacker/edge rusher Jonathan Agumadu over Utah State and Colorado. His decision comes a day after his official visit to Chapel Hill. He will have four years of eligibility remaining at the college level.
