A slow moving front will keep shower and thunderstorm chances in the Central Illinois forecast through the end of the week. After a hot, humid, and windy Tuesday, it'll begin to cool down today into the early part of next week. Temperatures will be closer to seasonal averages around 80°. Showers are likely today with a few thunderstorms this afternoon, especially to the south and east. There will also be pockets of heavier rain.

It'll definitely feel like summer across Central Illinois Tuesday with highs approaching 90° with increasing humidity and gusty winds. Gusts could reach 40 mph this afternoon with a few showers and isolated storms possible across the northwest. Shower and storm chances increase tonight and Wednesday. Some of the storms northwest tonight could be strong to severe. That threat shifts to the southeast Wednesday afternoon and evening.

It'll be a few degrees warmer today across Central Illinois after a mostly cloudy and cool Sunday. Highs this Memorial Day will top out in the low-to-mid-70s under mostly cloudy and breezy conditions. A few showers move in tonight with rain chances going up Tuesday and Tuesday night. Highs both Tuesday and Wednesday will be around 70°. Warmer weather is on the way by the end of the week into the weekend with highs in the upper-70s and low-80s. The uncertainty is with rain chances.
