Emily Whelan's Glasgow City journey reached a new landmark recently. The Republic of Ireland attacker made her 100th appearance for the Scottish outfit, almost three years after moving north from Birmingham City. It's been a really positive switch for the 22-year-old, who penned a fresh three-year deal last January that will see her stay in Glasgow until at least 2028.

Republic of Ireland women's boss Carla Ward has described the skorts/shorts camogie fallout as "absolutely ludicrous", and said it's symptomatic of "an old mentality towards women". Ward names her squad next week for the Nations League clashes away to Turkey and at home to Slovenia, which will be played at SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh, the home of Cork GAA. Last Saturday's Munster senior camogie final between Cork and Waterford was deferred after both teams confirmed their intention to wear shorts.

All in all it's just another brick in the wall. But Louise Quinn often felt like more than that to the Republic of Ireland: she was the grout, the grit and adhesive that held that wall together as historic highs were scaled. Diane Caldwell, Niamh Fahey and Julie-Ann Russell all walked away from the international stage over the winter. Quinn's decision to follow suit is a real blow, deepening the sense that Carla Ward is leading this side through a period of significant transition.
