Raidió Teilifís Éireann, commonly known as RTÉ, is the national public service broadcaster of Ireland and operates as a semi-state company. It creates and airs content across various platforms, including television, radio, and the Internet. RTÉ's radio service commenced on January 1, 1926, and it began regular television broadcasts on December 31, 1961, establishing itself as one of the longest-running public service broadcasters globally. Additionally, RTÉ produces a weekly magazine called the RTÉ Guide, which focuses on its television and radio programming.

The Laois senior hurlers made the perfect start to their Joe McDonagh Cup campaign as they defeated Westmeath with a fair degree of comfort, 3-25 to 1-22 at O'Moore Park. A 58-year-old Catholic priest from Donegal has appeared in court charged with attempted sexual communication with a child. Fr Edward Gallagher, from Orchard Park in Lifford, was arrested on Thursday after an incident outside a hotel in Derry. He appeared by video link at a special sitting of Derry Magistrates' Court sitting in Dungannon this morning. Fr Gallagher was charged with attempted sexual communication with a child on dates between 2 and 17 April.
