Jamshedpur: A district-level inquiry committee has been formed after textbooks meant for free distribution among students in Jharkhand's East Singhbhum district were allegedly stolen and sold to a scrap dealer recently, an official statement here on Tuesday said. The committee has been asked to submit its findings within 48 hours, officials said, adding the incident took place at Chakulia block.

Shimla/Nahan (HP): A teacher has been arrested for allegedly sexually harassing 24 girl students at a government school in Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh, officials said on Monday. The mathematics teacher has been remanded in police custody for three days and suspended from service, they said. The accused was arrested after the students of classes VIII to X complained to the school principal about the harassment. The school authorities informed the police which took him into custody.

Schools in Ranchi and Khunti remained closed on Thursday due to incessant rainfall from Wednesday. The IMD has issued a 'red' alert (heavy to extremely heavy rainfall) for Ranchi from 8.30 am on Thursday to 8.30 am on Friday.
