Following three weeks of delay to election results, the 2025 Associated Students Spring General Election concluded with a 20.42% voter turnout. Results were announced at the Interactive Learning Pavilion room 2302 at 7 p.m., an hour later than slated.

The Associated Students 75th Senate created a mental health subcommittee to oversee mental health first aid training, discussed billiards and bowling in Isla Vista and allocated funding to double the pay of Outstanding Boards, Committees and Units Award recipients at a Feb. 26 Senate meeting. The Senate officially created the Outstanding Boards, Committees and Units (BCU) Award at its Nov. 6 meeting to hold members of the Association accountable and reward three BCUs who go above and beyond.

The Associated Students 75th Senate passed a resolution last Wednesday promising to begin the process of instating a Division I intercollegiate football team at UC Santa Barbara. Several senators held reservations about allocating funding for the program. UCSB was previously home to the football team the Roadrunners, established in 1921. The team was renamed to the Gauchos in 1934.

The Associated Students 75th Senate swore in five new off-campus senators at its Feb. 5 meeting. They also discussed long-term plans, funding requests and the winter quarter special election. The Senate swore in five new on-campus senators this week after approving their appointments at the Jan. 29 meeting to fill empty senate seats, some from those who have quit this year, following a search by a senate special committee.
