But Spectrum is here to assure you it’s okay if you aren’t sure what you’re majoring in or which classes to take. If you’re a student who is undecided about your major, know that many students are in the same boat and that you are not alone. It doesn’t mean that you are regulated to random classes and have to blindly work through registration.

You’re not alone, and we’re here to help with Spectrum’s guide to cramming. The first thing you need to do is plan your cram session—you certainly don’t want to overwhelm yourself even more. Be prepared to ask yourself a series of “where,” “when,” and, most hauntingly, “how” questions.

Especially if you are from out of state and staying in New York over fall break, you may want to vote via absentee ballot. Principles of Economics is a common course for economics majors, but many students will tell you to take the Barnard equivalent, “Introduction to Economic Reasoning,” instead. Principles of Economics has been described as a well-designed course, and students coming in with limited background knowledge can count on this course to teach the fundamentals.

New Student Orientation Program: Aug. 25-Sept. 1 New students will have to attend the New Student Orientation Program—more commonly known as NSOP. For first-years in Columbia College and the School of Engineering and Applied Science, NSOP will start on Sunday, Aug. 25, while Barnard first-years start their orientation on Wednesday, Aug. 28.
