BANGKOK -- The Bank of Thailand (BOT) surprised the market by cutting its policy interest rate by a quarter point to 2.0% on Wednesday, as it looks to boost growth with inflation still in check. BANGKOK -- The Thai economy grew 3.0% in the July to September quarter, supported by a strong recovery in tourism, rising government spending and exports, the National Economic and Social Development Council (NESDC) said Monday. That topped a recent Reuters poll that forecast the Thai economy to expand 2.6% in the third quarter of the year. The figure was higher than the 2.2% growth logged in the second quarter.
