    A group of children discovered the body of an unknown man in Victoria’s Steavenson River on 25 December 1971. Believed to be in his 40s or 50s with dark hair and a large build, the man was discovered with a gold unicorn watch and a black signet ring. The ring has a mysterious inscription: '21.4.71 P.U.C.K.' Investigators believe this inscription may have been the Cyrillic term '?.?.?.?', which means 'risk' in English.

    A fancy vivid 10-carat cushion-modified blue diamond – known as the Mediterranean Blue – will appear at Sotheby’s in Geneva on 13 May. As one of the largest blue diamonds in the world, it will enter the auction with a pre-sale estimate of $USD20 million ($AUD31.46 million). The diamond was cut from a 31.94-carat rough discovered at the Cullinan Mine in South Africa in 2023. Quig Bruning, Sotheby's head of jewellery, said it was rare to see diamonds with these characteristics appear at auction.

    The 2025 Real Weddings Study found that 52 per cent of couples had an engagement ring featuring a lab-created diamond, an increase of 6 per cent from the previous year and 40 per cent since 2019. The study, completed by The Knot, a wedding planning company, involved a survey of more than 17,000 US couples who got married in 2024. Interestingly, the report found that the average spend on engagement rings declined to $USD5,200, a significant drop from $USD5,500 in the previous report.
