On the heels of our hitting prospects whose stock is rising piece, it’s time to look at some arms who have already turned heads through their first handful of starts. In one sense, it can be a little bit more difficult to put a ton of stock into a one-month sample from pitchers as they are typically only throwing once per week in the minor leagues with generally conservative workloads.

While it’s early in the season, a month’s worth of games has given us fresh looks and data with many players reaching more challenging levels than we last saw them at. When dealing with smaller samples that could imply a leap offensively, I typically want to see a mechanical adjustment in the video or a dramatic shift in the batted ball quality and angles. All of the following hitters check at least one of those boxes, if not both.

Of course, it always helps when you have three top 40 prospects in Roman Anthony, Marcelo Mayer and Kristian Campbell, but it seems like each time you check in on a Red Sox prospect, whether it be an arm or a bat, they are progressing well.

Carson Williams looks like the team’s future at shortstop while early returns on the Randy Arozarena trade point towards exciting upside between right-handed pitching prospect Brody Hopkins and outfield prospect Aidan Smith.

Perpetually one of baseball’s best farm systems, the Dodgers are absolutely loaded once again, even with the imminent graduation of Roki Sasaki. Including Sasaki, the Dodgers boast three prospects within the top 10 of our top 100 list and seven top 100 prospects in total. It’s a combination of strong drafting and international scouting and savvy trades by Andrew Friedman and company that have the Dodgers’ farm consistently sitting pretty.

This is one of my favorite articles to put out every year, not only because it is a blast to put together, but because it means Minor League Baseball is back. Last year’s predictions yielded mixed results, as expected with these types of predictions. Of course, “breakout” is a relative term as some prospects on this list are featured on our top 100 list, while others are not even in their team top 15 yet. Essentially, these are the players I expect to take a big leap in 2025.
