Castro had an opt-out on June 3, and without a clear path to playing time for the Astros, the reliever now finds a home on a team that can use him. The veteran reliever had a 2.29 ERA in 19.2 innings for the Sugar Land Space Cowboys and would make $1.5 million if he’s called up to MLB.

HOUSTON – Our KPRC 2 and UTMB Health Athletes of The Week for the week of May 8 is the Lamar Texans 4 x 400 relay team. The Texans ran a Texas state record time of 3:08:51 in their regional meet, breaking a state record dating back to 1994. “I was excited because we were going to win the regional meet and we ran so much better than we did the day before, but then you see the time and you’re in shock and don’t believe you ran that fast,” said head coach Gerrick Green.

THE WOODLANDS, Texas – In a growing sport, the pop of the paddle has started to capture a younger audience. 12-year-old Pierce Behr of The Woodlands is looking to become one of the next great pickleball players and chose it over many other sports he could have played. “It’s just so awesome, the competitiveness and versatility of the sport is awesome,” Behr told KPRC 2’s Ari Alexander. Behr started playing two years ago at a court in his grandfather’s backyard. He quickly got addicted.

I would imagine a FA year would cost around $20 million. He's at $4.1m for Arb 1 right now - assuming something like $6m and $9m for arbs 2 and 3 we're looking at something 6/$95 million making sense.

@AriA1exander Do you think he's outpriced the Perdomo extension? What do you think would be a starting point for him, assuming you're buying out 2 ARB years and then everything after is FA years?

Jeremy Peña - like Jose Altuve said - is the kind of player the Astros should be targeting for an extension. You know your floor with him is going to be league average hitting SS with good defense and excellent baserunning. Your ceiling is Gold Glove + what we saw in '22

When you’re in a Believing in Jeremy Peña contest and your opponent is me https://t.co/62DeTEW0bw

@AriA1exander difference is i knew he’d perform like this since before the season started 😏
