1 Introduction Influenza A virus (IAV) undergoes replication specifically within respiratory epithelial cells, and the infection is localized in the respiratory tracts. The initial stage of infection involves alveolar macrophages and monocytes, triggering a pro-inflammatory cytokine response.[1] The initiation of adaptive immunity relies on triggering dendritic cell (DC)[2] residing in the epithelia of the upper respiratory tract, where they acquire viral antigens.
