YORK, S.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — York County leaders gave the green light for increasing impact fees on new developments in order to help fund the construction and maintenance of schools in Fort Mill. With the split vote at Monday’s County Council meeting, existing fees will rise to $29,640 for new single-family homes and $20,796 for each new apartment unit. Currently, a builder pays $18,158 per home and $12,020 per apartment.

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, S.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A Lancaster man is behind bars following an investigation that revealed he attempted to hire someone to murder his wife. On April 3, Chesterfield County investigators arrested 34-year-old Kevin Donel Meadows and charged him with solicitation to commit a felony. The investigation started when a tip was called into law enforcement. This led to detectives uncovering Meadows’ steps towards soliciting someone to murder his wife.

GASTONIA, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Months after a Gastonia 16-year-old boy was shot and killed and another was charged with first-degree murder, a second arrest has been made in the case. The U.S. Marshals Task Force, along with Gastonia police, arrested 25-year-old Jayveon Love and charged him with first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder. Detectives say evidence shows Love was driving an older model black Tesla during the shooting.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — An unaccompanied child was found Sunday in southeast Charlotte and police are trying to locate family members. The child was found around 5 p.m. in the 7600 block of Aragorn Lane. The child is wearing a short-sleeve white t-shirt with a yellow bear design on it and brown sweatpants. She’s between the ages of eight and 12 years old, 4’2 and approximately 87 lbs with black hair and brown eyes. Police do not know her name or date of birth.
